This policy applies to all current members of staff who author a Scholarly Article submitted for publication after 31st March 2023.
It also applies to any postgraduate research student who is an author of a Scholarly Article and where a third party funder of that postgraduate research student requires the Scholarly Article to be made open access under a Creative Commons licence.
For any postgraduate research student who is an author of a Scholarly Article, and where there is no research funding requirement placed on the Scholarly Article, and the article is not otherwise in scope of the policy (e.g. there is no Durham co-author otherwise covered by the policy) then the student author is encouraged to still follow the steps outlined in the policy.
