In order to comply with the policy, and in line with the expectations of research funders, authors are strongly recommended that a statement as detailed below is included in all manuscripts submitted for publication.
“For the purpose of open access, the author has applied a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) licence to any Author Accepted Manuscript version arising.”
This statement should be modified as required, for example to include any additional text required by a funder acknowledged in the paper, or to indicate an alternative licence if permission to use this has been granted by the relevant funder or institution.
If you did not include the RRS statement (for example, because you forgot or because as a requirement of peer review anonymity the journal prohibited this to be included), you can still deposit in Durham Research Online (DRO). The University has taken action to notify many scholarly publishers of the policy and the prior licence.
