The Research Publications Policy applies to all articles published by Durham University researchers, including where they are not the main or corresponding author.
Papers are only eligible for open access through our transformative agreements where the corresponding author is affiliated with Durham University. If the corresponding author is based elsewhere the paper may not be covered by a transformative agreement. In such cases use of the Research Publications Policy will still allow the author to make their accepted manuscript open access immediately upon publication. University authors should therefore ensure that all co-authors are aware of the policy requirements (where practical - this may not always be practical when working in large collaborations, when disciplinary norms should be followed) in the same way they would communicate other obligations on them as an author.
If your co-authors are based at other research-intensive Universities in the UK, it is likely that their institutions have similar policies in place.
