Students finishing one degree who require access to the library prior to starting a new course in the following academic year – e.g. undergraduate to postgraduate, or postgraduate to PhD - can request access to the Library over the summer vacation. However, the next course must also be at Durham University.
If you will be studying elsewhere, see our visitor access web pages.
If you are continuing your studies at Durham University in the next academic year, you can request a summer extension to your library and/or IT account via CIS.
The Student Summer Library Borrowing form allows you to request to borrow up to 7 print resources from the library. IT access is not included as part of the student summer library borrowing.
The Student Summer IT Account Extension form allows you to request a continuation of your current IT access, including online resources via Discover. Library Borrowing is not included as part of the IT account extension.
If both borrowing and IT access is required, both forms need to be submitted.
Requests are subject to approval from your proposed academic supervisor.
